As part of the “United to End Violence Against Women” project, implemented by Solidarity Is Global Institute-JO (SIGI) with support from the UN Trust Fund, the coordinator of the “Green Electronics” initiative, Engineer Yousef Asfour, presented a plaque of appreciation to the association in recognition of its active role and tangible contribution in supporting the initiative and achieving its objectives.
Mr. Asfour emphasized that this gesture of appreciation expresses gratitude for SIGI’s role in supporting youth-led community initiatives and its deep belief in the importance of raising environmental and social awareness, particularly concerning the safe and responsible management of electronic waste — within an approach that integrates environmental justice and gender equality.
The “Green Electronics” initiative, stemming from the project, aims to highlight the intersection of environmental and social justice by collecting and recycling old electronic devices in eco-friendly ways, while also providing economic empowerment opportunities for women through recycling and reuse activities.
In turn, Mrs. Ena’am Al-Asha, Executive Director and Advisor of SIGI, expressed her appreciation for the efforts of the initiative’s team, affirming SIGI’s commitment to continue supporting meaningful community initiatives that contribute to environmental protection and the advancement of women’s rights in society.
